The Mutafalsifah (Philosophers) are those ascribing to Islam who tried to merge Greek philosophy with the Shariah such as al-Farabi (d. 339H) and Ibn Sina (d. 429H). They sprung into action when they saw the Ahl al-Kalam (Mutakallimun) using the conceptual tools of the Greeks in order to prove the universe is originated, and seeing great flaws in this proof (huduth al-ajsaam), they moved to bolster their own baseless position of the universe being eternal and whose existence is necessitated by Allah's existence just like simultaneous cause and effect.
